Dr Andrew EastMassey University
Dr Andrew East is a Postharvest Engineer at the Centre for Postharvest and Refrigeration Research at Massey University, Palmerston North. Andrew is an industry-focused, yet scientifically-led applied researcher focused on storage and logistics of perishable fruit products. Clients include New Zealand’s key fruit export industries, product industries in development and those industries that service the horticultural sector (e.g. packaging, industrial refrigeration providers, transport providers etc.). Andrew currently leads a MBIE research project focusing on developing new fibreboard packaging solutions for the horticultural industry and a PGP research project developing non-destructive assessment methods, and predictive modelling tools to be applied in the kiwifruit supply chain. Andrew has published over 80 scientific papers, currently sits on the editorial boards of 3 international scientific journals and has been awarded for his work in cool chain research by the International Institute of Refrigeration.
